News from Brasilia 06/ 22/ 2020

So how is the situation of coronavirus in Brasilia?

The number of infected are increasing and so does the number of deaths.
33282 people were infected and 433 have already died from coronavirus in Federal District.

Updated on June 22th, 2020. The chart is updated twice a day at http://www.coronavirus.df.gov.br/

Quarantaine is on in Brasilia. Schools are closed, use of mask is mandatory in public spaces and shops and malls are opening in a reduced time. Some sectors are making pressure to resume their activities, as restaurants, pubs and fitness centers. The Government of Federal District seems to be willing to allow these sectors to be back to business even though the situation of coronavirus is not getting better. Thousands of people lost their jobs and the business owners say if they remain closed, they will have to fire more people.

Today a judge of Federal District determined that non essential services (including beauty salons) should remain closed. The Governor, Ibaneis Rocha, may go to Justice to change that. You can read more here. Let's wait and see what is gonna happen....meanwhile, be safe! As I wrote in a recent post, some restrictions dropped in Brasilia. Parks, Eixao (on Sundays) are open for activities. If you decide to go out (and I can totally understand the willing to go out after so many weeks at home), keep social distance, use your mask and have a sanitizer on hand.

Talking about physical activity, I am doing exercises at home with online classes. I follow a Brazilian couple who is personal trainer. They offer free live classes everyday at 7pm (Instagram). I usually watch the classes at Youtube. It's fun and it's not complicated. You don't need equipments and you work out a lot. And as a plus you will practice your Portuguese listening skills
