If you take a look in any Brazilian newspaper today, you
will see one name in the headlines: Queiroz.
What about him? Queiroz was a close aide of one of the president’s
son, Flavio Bolsonaro, who is a senator today. There is an investigation in
course about an old and terrible habit of some politicians “rachadinha” (I wouldn’t
know how to translate it, but it refers to split the salary of the employee. The
employee is obliged to give back part of his salary to the politician who hired
him (with public money). As a Congressman/congresswoman can hire many aides for
their office, with this practice of “rachadinha”, a lot of money go to the
politician’s pocket illegally. This guy, Queiroz, says the investigators, was the
responsible for organize this awful practice in Flavio’s Bolsonaro office in
Rio de Janeiro. Queiroz disappeared for about a year and was caught yesterday
in a house that belongs to the lawyer of president Bolsonaro. One more chapter
of the complicated political scenario of Brazil.
Coronavirus in Brasilia
Chart from the Health Secretary. Updated on June 18h at 6pm. The chart is updated twice a day, at noon and at 6pm. |
While the situation of coronavirus is finally getting better in cities that had very high numbers of infected and deaths, as Manaus; in other cities that were not initially so affected, the scenario is worsening. And we could say Brasilia is included in this group. Both confirmed cases and deaths because of coronavirus are increasing in the capital of Brazil. Take good care of yourself.
